Critical Collapse, Extremal Black Holes, and Beyond

Abstract:
I will discuss recent work studying the collapse of a distribution of particles near the threshold for forming a significantly charged black hole. These results suggest a possible route to forming extremal spinning black holes and explore cases where black holes become unstable and give rise to naked singularities.
